CareTech Solutions CEO Appointed to Michigan Public Health Institute Board of Directors

James Giordano appointed to help enable Michigan communities to apply
state-of-the-art community health practices

Troy, Mich. – May 22, 2006 –
Michigan communities have access to some new perspectives on healthcare practices, with the appointment of a locally-based national healthcare information technology (IT) industry leader to one of the state’s top healthcare nonprofit organizations.

The Michigan Public Health Institute (MPHI) has selected James Giordano, president and chief executive officer of CareTech Solutions, to serve on its board of directors. As a member of the board, Giordano will provide insight on how technology may benefit public health programs impacting Michigan citizens, based on his experience leveraging healthcare IT and health information management (HIM) practices to help improve hospitals and healthcare systems across the country.

“With his ability to gather insight from healthcare technology trends developing in Michigan and beyond, we feel that Jim will make an excellent addition to our board,” said Jeffrey Taylor, Ph.D., executive director of the Michigan Public Health Institute. “Our organization’s goal is to maximize positive health conditions throughout Michigan communities through collaboration and applied expertise, and Jim’s leadership role with a top healthcare IT and HIM services provider like CareTech lends especially relevant knowledge to advance the application of innovative healthcare practices.”

Under Giordano’s leadership as president and CEO, CareTech has expanded its offerings, launching several new service lines to better serve its clients while lowering overall healthcare costs. He also possesses more than 20 years of business and financial management experience, having dedicated three years as CareTech’s vice president and chief financial officer and 13 years with Electronic Data Systems Corporation (EDS). Giordano holds an MBA from the University of Detroit-Mercy and a bachelor’s of science degree in finance and managerial economics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

“It is quite an honor to be part of the Michigan Public Health Institute’s board of directors,” said Giordano. “The men and women of this organization offer a wealth of knowledge to make Michigan healthcare among the best in the country, and it is a privilege to collaborate with them and offer technology best practices that have helped many CareTech’s clients improve their cash flow and patient, doctor and administration satisfaction. I look forward to serving on this board.”
