(TROY, Mich., Oct. 29, 2014) CareTech Solutions, an information technology (IT) and Web products and services provider for U.S. hospitals and healthcare systems, announced today that the company’s Security Architect, Steven Marchessault, will join Oakwood Healthcare’s Manager of Information Security and IT Security, Joe Pelukas, in an educational session, “Cyber Security: Best and Worst Website Practices and Trends,” at the 18th Annual Greystone.Net Healthcare Internet Conference, November 3-5 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
On November 4, Marchessault and Pelukas will discuss the evolving and escalating real-world threats to cyber security and how they pertain to the hospital website, which often provides an entryway to vulnerable infrastructure. The presentation will highlight how Oakwood Healthcare took practical steps beyond regulatory compliance through security risk assessments to address Web security gaps and pitfalls. Best practices and recommendations to ensure the prevention of breaches will also be examined.
“Today’s hospital websites are used to conduct a wide array of patient business from bill pay to prescription refills, which also makes them a rich target for hackers. CareTech’s security expertise along with its HIPAA compliant and PCI certified content management system, CareWorks, can help hospitals like Oakwood Healthcare mitigate the risk,” said CareTech Solutions’ CIO Louis Caschera. “We’re honored that CareTech and our client Oakwood Healthcare are recognized leaders in this area and were selected to share our experiences with other Web leaders in this industry.”
