Health information management director honored during association’s annual meeting attended by hundreds of industry leaders

Troy, Mich. – May 20, 2005 – Leslie Mack, health information management (HIM) director for information technology (IT) and HIM outsourcing company CareTech Solutions, has been selected for the Michigan Health Information Management Association (MHIMA) 2005 Distinguished Member Award. Mack, a 25-year industry veteran and 2004 MHIMA president director, was honored May 20 during the association’s annual meeting in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.

“We are so honored to recognize Leslie with this year’s Distinguished Member Award,” said Michigan Health Information Management Association President Tracy Brown. “During her tenure as a MHIMA member, she has made several outstanding professional contributions at the regional, state and national level. It is our pleasure to count her among our most eminent members and colleagues.”

The MHIMA Distinguished Member Award recognizes a member for outstanding contributions to the profession, as well as service to MHIMA. Each year, MHIMA reviews nominations for the award and determines if one meets the criteria. Assuming a nominee is chosen, the award is presented during the organization’s annual meeting.

“I am thrilled to receive this award,” said Mack. “The Michigan Health Information Management Association is a phenomenal organization to be associated with, and I’m pleased to join the ranks of so many other illustrious professionals. It is my passion to improve the healthcare industry – and the people it serves – through information technology, and it’s wonderful to be rewarded for doing what I love.”

In addition to serving as past president director of MHIMA, Mack continues her work with the organization today as a member of its FOCUS Newsletter publication staff. In previous years, she has also held a number of other positions, including secretary treasurer, director, co-strategy manager of education and treasurer. Mack has also represented MHIMA at several National American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) meetings and team talks, and has spoken to several regional associations throughout the state as well.
