The Detroit Institute for Children Selects CareTech Solutions for Information Technology Outsourcing Services

Strategic move by children’s institute is further evidence of emerging trend among healthcare providers to manage technology needs through partnership with service provider

Troy, Mich. – June 27, 2005 – CareTech Solutions, an information technology (IT) and Health Information Management (HIM) outsourcing provider for hospitals and health systems, today announced it has signed a comprehensive IT outsourcing agreement with The Detroit Institute for Children (The DIC), employing a full spectrum of the company’s IT outsourcing services.

“Our facility, specializing in diagnostic, medical and rehabilitative care for children with disabilities, emphasizes delivering care for the whole child, not just the disability,” said Mike Wooley, chief executive officer of The Detroit Institute for Children. “CareTech’s offering demonstrated a similar emphasis for The DIC’s comprehensive IT needs; they provide the expertise and resources to implement technologies that support efficiencies from both a clinical and operational perspective. These enhanced capabilities will help provide our staff with the support needed to fulfill The DIC’s mission.”

Under the agreement, CareTech also assumes management of The DIC’s information services staff, which transitioned employment as part of the agreement. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

As The DIC’s strategic technology business partner, CareTech will provide a comprehensive IT solution for The DIC’s IT operations, including Help Desk, Data Center, Network Services, Applications Services and Desktop Services. CareTech’s onsite and remote support will be instrumental in assisting The DIC’s objective to move the organization forward as it strives to consistently improve the continuum of care for the children and young adults it serves.

“We are very pleased The DIC has selected CareTech as its IT outsourcing partner and look forward to leveraging our resources on their behalf,” said Jim Giordano, president and chief executive officer for CareTech Solutions. “Our partnership will allow CareTech to work side-by-side with The DIC, as the organization pursues its passion for positively impacting the lives of children with special health care needs.”
